Mr. Raymond M. Maloney President Protech Security 16262 Prince Drive South Holland, IL 60473
Dear Ray: I am pleased so report that the citation issued to our sports bar owner by the Village of Alsip for sale of liquor to a minor was dismissed by the Circuit Court of Cook County on motion of the Village prosecutor without the necessity for further court appearance on our part. The facts are these; Our client was cited for allegedly serving beer to a minor as a result of statements made hy the minor to members of the Alsip Police Department. Thanks to the Protech Security LICENSE SAVER PLUS System, the bar owner was able to review the tape for the night of the incident to locate the alleged offender and to identify the valid Illinois driver's license used by the minor to gain access to the establishment. We were then able to determine the actual identity of the owner of the driver's license and to prepare a solid case for the defense. The minor asserted so the police that she had never even been asked to produce identification prior to entering the premises. Your system functioned exactly as promised--when the tape was shown to the Village prosecutor and the Chief of Police prior to trial, they were convinced by the incontrovertible evidence of the videotape that the young woman had misrepresented what had actually occurred. Because of the obvious conclusive evidentiary value of the tape, the prosecutor and the Chief agreed that the citation against the sports bar owner should be dismissed. As a result, the LICENSE SAVER PLUS System saved my client from the potential imposition of a substantial fine and the risk of suspension or loss of his liquor license, not to mention the time and legal fees attendant upon further court proceedings. In addition, I believe that the Chief and his department have changed their outlook on our client's establishment and its management so that they are now convinced that the owner has committed to and implemented an effective means of preventing underage drinking. This in turn should result in a whole different attitude on the part of the Village which we anticipate will reduce the possibility of future citations where the camera evidence can demonstrate that the charges are without foundation. As an attorney representing numerous municipalities as well as private clients. I can enthusiastically recommend your system. Because deterrence is an important, if not essential aspect of any identification verification program, the knowledge on the part of would-be underage drinkers that your system is in place capable of offering high resolution video and still pictures of not only the individual but the identification presented will undoubtedly prevent most minors from even attempting to gain access to a licensee's establishment. Thus, not only the licensee but the municipality is benefitted by reducing the number of violations. While our firm cannot officially endorse products or services. I am pleased to offer my own personal testimony of the effectiveness of your system. I would be happy to share my experience with any of your clients.
Yours very truly, Kenneth C. Shepro
